They showed a couple of trailers of movies that are due later this year. Both sequels (in a sense) and both have the lead star replaced. Felt the new replacements did not quite fill the shoes.
For the new Superman of-course he will have to fight of all the villains in the movie (and will win those battles) His bigger battle will be against the ghost of Christopher Reeves.
Considering he was no great shakes as an actor (nice well built pretty faced boy) it is surprising how large a shadow he casts over anyone who will follow. His legendary battle for life made him a real superhero and its going to take a long time for anyone who may have seen his post-accident interviews (a lot of them with Larry King) to accept anyone else as a Superman.
The new Bond. What can I say? I think the producers already realise their screw-up. Which probably explains why Women, special effects, and Dame Judi Dench feature far more prominently in the trailer than the new Bond.
I'm no great Pierce Brosnan fan. Yeah he made a decent Bond and was probably OK for another couple of movies. That being said I think the replacement should have been Robbie Williams.
Bond is not about acting. (I doubt if any of the Bonds have even been nominated for an Oscar) It's about attitude, it's about panache and that is something that Robbie has by the truckloads. And an innate ability to project that cockiness onto the screen.
In all probability Daniel Craig may go into the Wikipedia as George Lazenby II. What I hope for is that the next time round they get the selection right.
Can you even imagine the possibilities?

for a second i read robbie williams as robin williams and ROTFLOLed for an eternity
Dear F-Cubed and Grasshopper Boy,
Me too! I thought what nonsense, Robin Williams wouldn't be able to hoist himself off a jungle gym, forget about doing all those death-defying Bond stunts. But yeah, Robbie Williams the singer would be superb. He's really sexy and has the panache and a cruicial quality - irreverence - to be a Bond.
The new Bond has a nice chest though...
Yowzah!!
- Vik "tired of the steroid Bombay queen" ster
WTF?
Wild! RELAX!!! I am reasonably certain that when Viks taked about "Steroid Bombay Queens" he was certainly not implying anything personal against anyone but about the fact that there are today a bunch of guys who seem to be totally devoted to buffing up their appearence.(and perhaps taking the easy way out of getting there). It was an off the cuff remark made in the context of the new Bonds upper body physique.
To be fair to him (and extremely nasty about you and me in a way) even a blind man would realise that neither of us have the kind of bod that could be created by the use of chemicals.
For myself though I have to confess that I have been approached by the makers of some of these chemicals to be their "before" model with Hritik or Salman as the "after"
Viraf "is Fat a Steroid??" D
Dear Viraf,
Thank you for your able explanation. I accept it, and since leaving a comment like the one I made is fraught with the very dangers of rumours becoming half-truths, I am deleting it from your blog.
Also Viraf kindly note that he wrote "tired of THE steroid Bombay queen" and did not "talk about" steroid queens in general. So don't you go ascribing contexts and "being fair to him". Secondly nowhere did I mention myself (and certainly not yourself - gosh) as the subject of the comment.
