This one is dedicated to Shabana.
Madam has decided that the way for this city to move ahead is to hold a Silent Candlelight march from Kaifi Azmi Park to the Gandhi Statue at Juhu Beach for "peace and compassion for the victims of the Bomb Blast"
The victims of the Blast are all dead or injured. There is no way the march can restore any sense of peace to them.
So please stop the Bullshit.
Actually No. Go ahead and go through that stupid sham publicity stunt of yours. Better now than a few years from now when you will probably want to march in favour of showing compassion and charity and to stop the public hanging (the ONLY suitable punishment) of the bastards who perpetuated this crime.
Daddy darling and an irrelevant old man may be your ideals. They are not mine.
For me I think I look for guidance to Zizou.
Smash down the sleaze-balls who have been doing this to us for so long. So what if the referee gives you a red card. At least you know you have done the RIGHT THING.
I think people need to read his recent statements and then decide which way they want to go.
"Yes. They were very hard words. You hear them once and you try to move away. But then you hear them twice, and then a third time... I am a man and some words are harder to hear than actions.

I can't regret it because if I do it would be like admitting that he was right to say all that. And above all, it was not right.
There was provocation, and it was very serious, that is all. My action was inexcusable but you have to punish the real culprit, and the real culprit is the one who provoked it. Voila."
It sickens me to hear and read all the crap about the resilience and spirit of Bombay.
Most of the media guys seem to be so screwed up they can not distinguish "resilience" from "resignation".
If Bombay was back on its feet within 24 hours it was only because they have come to realise that things are not going to change.
Wake up Bombay. It is NOT a good thing to be labelled as the Serial Blast Capital of the World.
We have been labelled the Rudest city in the World lets live up to that reputation and show the Bastards who abuse us that we are NO LONGER WILLING TO BE SUBMISSIVE.
Let us take those bottles of water and fill them with Petrol and throw them on the next Schmuk who tries to hurt us.
Most important.

Hey babes,
Am back! Hope you well.
thanks for the lovely comment on my b-school post.
I completely share your view that we are not resilient but resigned. I'm tired of this spirit of Mumbai rhetoric too.
What I WOULD like to see out of all this, though, is statehood for Mumbai.
I don't think there is any other solution to not just security, but many of our problems. Just one piece of advice to all the naysayers - look at Delhi.
As long as we are run by hinterland politicians who I suspect take a Schadenfreude in the miseries of this city, we are only going to take battering after battering.
Statehood for Mumbai I say.
The bomb blasts are giving me second thoughts about returning to India. It is a wake up call. And the issue of terrorism needs to be faced with courage, instead of merely providing feel-good solutions. It is time for "Esse Quam Videri" - "To be, rather than to seem"
when are u changing this (lack of) color scheme? or is it that i'm just getting old!?
h
